Ride 44

Ride Number 44 - Hope it will be another 44 until I come back here.

Rainy Morning, Met Chris for coffee in town. Walked next door and got a hair cut then hit the gym and did some errands. Sun came out and I felt like a caged animal! After a couple spills on the trail I looked like an animal, It was way muddy in the low spots. These trails are just as hard as the hardest trails I have ridden. Tight little rocks all over that just suck the power out of you and you can forget about momentum.

I'm packing up right now for a trip down to the Virginia Pork Festival with Bobby and Alicia. As I pass through Richmond tomorrow I hope to catch a ride in some of the downtown parks.

Best Day Ever!

It's a rainy morning here in WV. I just can't see myself sitting here typing this blog on a sunny day. I just got back from a great weekend at Dirt Fest in PA. It was very similar to Outerbike, which you may remember from Chris' blog in October. The difference here was that they jammed 1000 people into two campgrounds. At times the crowds were tiring (like when trying to sleep) but it was a blast. We were at a site with 12-15 other tents. They were all people who signed up as a alone. They wanted 6 people in group to get your own site. The site we were at had people from all over OH, PA, VA, MD, DC, WV. It was a lot of fun meeting everyone, riding together and camping out. We rode a lot of trails with a bearded tattooist named OZ - or was it Glenn - or someone was calling him Cam. The guy rides a unicycle also, he's got to be cool?  A few of us may meet back up for the 24 hour race at Seven Springs.

I've has a pretty good few months since my last post. I have biked 37 days in 2012 in some great places and found some great trails. I also made a couple trips to Jersey to see the family, Charleston, SC with Bobby and Alicia, and Michigan to spend a weekend with Nathan, Amanda, Eli, and Hoover.  (I'm struggling with formatting!)

Another Good Week!

The past week has been pretty good. I had a little overtime, my shift and a trade shift. Then rolled right into a couple good hikes in the George Washington NF. O yeah I had to do a little plumbing here at the house. It required a trip to Home Depot, that was ashame (I love that Place).

We had an early start today. Met up for a ride at the Watershed with Chris, Chris, Greg and Myself. Good thing we didn't have to introduce ourselves, no would believe our names. Thanks to Chris Gay, we have some short clips of a little jump we rolled up on. My New Computer has a movie maker so I started to dabble a bit... The first starts with Chris jumping then two of mine and the second movie is all Chris. His first tumble was at Rocky Gap SP, MD on 1-1-12. Might have been his first of 2012?

Here are a few pictures from the two hikes in GW NF.

My Snowboard Rocks!

Well, I guess I'm starting to slack on keeping this blog updated. I just don't feel like I need to put my life into words, or what I'm thinking, or what I want to think. As I type this I think that maybe I'll try to take more pictures, and just put them on here. That sounds easy, right?

Colorado was great, met a lot of good people and got a lot of time on the slopes. They could use a little more snow acctually. Vail was pretty good but Keystone was pretty thin. There were rocks showing through the moguls. I had a few gouges in my Snowboard when I came home. It's a good thing I know how to do Base repair and wax. The day a I spent with John and Cheryl was nice also. John ripped up his skis so bad on the rocks he might need new one, that's ashame (haha).

I found this yummy morsel as I was leaving Nederland, Co. Last time I had one was in South Lake Tahoe, Ca.. mmm

Since my return I have missed Colorado every day, the weather, the geography, the people, the activities, it's just a great place! Everyone I talked to out there all told me the same thing "just come out, it'll all work out." That scares the crap out of me, I have it way to good here on the east right now. I'll live there someday, not sure when.

The weekend I got back to WV I had a visitor. It was nice to see Nathan and his puppy for the night. They were heading to meet the rest of the family in NC.

The weather here has not been very 'winter like' lately. It's a little depressing when I have so many winter clothes just sitting here not getting used. Heck I don't even wear a jacket anymore. It's going to be 65 again this week. The weather being so mild has definitely allowed me to keep my bike rides up though. I'm around 8-10 days of biking so far this year... should be on track for 100.

This week I'll be working 3 days then who knows what the weekend will bring, I just heard about some hot springs in the GW Nat Forest. Maybe I'll try to find them.

Got bored and decided to take my old bike apart
